"Enfield, Hampshire Co., MA" mentioned in the family of Isaac Osborn-7892 is now the town of Enfield in Hartford Co., CT. Enfield was originally formed in 1683 in the southern part of Hampshire Co., MA which is the part of Hampshire Co. that in 1812 became Hampden Co., MA. In 1749, Enfield was tranfered from Hampshire Co., MA to Hartford Co., CT. A second town named Enfield was created in Hampshire Co., MA in 1816 and was dissolved in 1938 when the town was flooded to create a reservoir. The town mentioned in the above is *not* to be confused with this second Enfield.
