Comments

Benjamin Osborn-9265 moved to Mt. Washington in Berkshire Co., MA from "Nine Partners" in Dutchess Co., NY about 1758. (Berkshire Co., MA Middle District Deed Book 6/102)

After his death, Benjamin's land was divided among his heirs. Benjamin's daughter Hannah was married to a Reuben Osborn. The deed for the sale of Hannah's share of the land was witnessed by Samuel Haight, Daniel Osborn, Roswel Osborn, and Phinehas Osborn. (Berkshire Co., MA Middle District Deed Book 28/432) Roswell Osborn was a Rev. War veteran and in his pension application states that he was born 11 March 1752 at New Haven, CT. It seems likely of course that Benjamin was closely related to Reuben, Roswell, Daniel, and Phinehas Osborn, making it likely that Benjamin was from the same locality. Roswell Osborn's pension also shows that Roswell was associated with Ephraim Osborn-5478 who was also a Rev. War soldier. Ephraim Osborn-5478 is a known grandson of Ephraim Osborn-5323. Given that Ephraim Osborn-5478 is also known to have had a son Benjamin baptized 20 Jun 1725 in New Haven, CT., it would seem that Benjamin Osborn-9265 is that son.

In 1788, Reuben and Hannah Osborn sold their share of Benjamin's land to David Osborn. Reuben and Hannah were described as late of Hancock in Berkshire Co., MA, while David Osborn was late of New Lebanon in Albany Co., NY.

In 1794, sons David, Solomon, and Noah, and daughter Mary sold their shares of Benjamin's land. At that time they were all resident of Canaan in Columbia Co., NY. (Berkshire Co., MA Southern District Deed Book 35/1)
