According to a 1948 historical compilation of articles titled "Echos of Lusby's Mill" by the Lusby's Mill Homemakers, the Osburn/Osborne's were one of the first four families to settle that area of present day Owen County, Kentucky just before the dawn of the 19th century. The other three family surnames were Cobb, Clifton, and Perkins. The community was first called Cobb's Station for Samuel Cobb, a Revolutionary War veteran who was the patriarch of the Cobb family that first arrived in this area. I am researching these families as well as the Lusby family for whom Lusby's Mill was eventually renamed. I appreciate Lee Osborne's (the owner of this website and with whom I share a common ancestor) research and dedication to the accuracy and preservation of the Osborne family genealogical and historical data.

Researching Abigail Osborne(? born 1730's) who married Joseph Claypool abt 1761. The Claypool family moved from current day Hardy Co, WV to Greenbrier Co, WV in the 1780's. There was a John Osborne who married Elizabeth Claypool who also moved from Hardy Co to Greenbrier Co. Joseph Claypool and Elizabeth Claypool were both children of James Claypool (b 1701).

I am trying to figure out if the above John Osborne was the brother of Abigail Osborne. If so, was their father Jeremiah Osborne who was born in NJ and later lived in Current day Hardy Co, WV?

Thank you

I am looking for my fathers family. His name is Stephen Leroy Osborn, his father was Leroy Osborn born 1922 in Lucas Co., Ohio. Looks like his mother was Hazel M. Arthur born 1895 or 96, father Robert Osborne born ca. 1893, Roberts parents look to be Margaret C. Aders born 1870 in Indiana and father Moses Osborne born around 1862 in either Kentucky or Indiana. Moses' parents look to be Matthew Osborne born ca. 1827, I think Owen, Kentucky, died before 1870 Indiana according to census records, and his mother was Catherine Osborne born ca. 1831 Kentucky. That's where the line stops for me. An Elias Osborne signed the marriage contract for Matthew and Catherine, not sure if there is any relation to either. Matthew and Catherine had the same surname, looks like there was more than one family of Osbornes in Kentucky and Indiana. Any help connecting the dots would be greatly appreciated!!!!
