My mother is Vina Elizabeth Osborne d/o Thomas Osborne and Sarah Ann Johnson Osborne. Thomas is the son of Jonathan Osborne s/o Andrew Osborn. I have traced the Osborne family back to Ephraim Osborne Sr. but am uncertain about his roots before his birth in 1723.

I'm beginning a search for my maternal greatgrandfather whose last name is Osborne. He married a Mary Casey in Waterford Ireland and records show that he moved the family to Boston but records for him seem to vanish. He did not come to the US but remained behind.

Thank You for such a wonderful resource!

My Osborne Origins begin in Washington Co Arkansas..that is when the spelling of our name changed. 3 generations back, in Kentucky, we were "Osborne's". When the family group made the move to Arkansas, they changed the spelling but nobody seems to know the reason why? Love a good mystery :!thinking:

We go from backwards from Arkansas to Kentucky to Tennessee to North Carolina then Virginia and are part of the rumored New Jersey link ;)

My 2 times greatgrandfather was born in Tennessee and moved to Arkansas. He left Arkansas in 1857. He traveled to Calaveras County, CA where my cousins still live on the homestead. I know who his children were and also my grandmother. I have hit a brick wall on both of their parents. My grandfather was George Washington Osburn he changed it to Osborn when he moved to California. My grandmother was Rebecca Emma Cates. I have found information that she was from eastern Tennessee. Great website.

Thanks, Frances Burruss

Thank you and have a great day.

Added: My problem is trying to find the father of my 3rd GG Reuben Osborn (1753 - 1813). He married Hannah Osborn about 1777. She was born in 1763 and died 28 Feb 1853 in Attica, Genesse County, New York. Reuben was a baptist minister who died in Attica, New York.
There is a Reuben Osborn (1755-1830) who married Miriam Atwater (1755-1813) who is my 2nd cousin 5 times removed.
